Doornburgh Estate and Emmaus Priory, Maarssen
The Doornburgh Estate and the Emmaus Priory are being repurposed. Continuation of the priory has proven to be difficult due to the decreasing number of nuns that reside here. The last nuns will leave the priory at the end of December 2016. The 17th century estate, and priory in the style of the Bossche School form a magnificent architectural ensemble. It is important to retain the atmosphere and appearance of the Emmaus Priory that have been cherished by the community for so many years. Ernst Veen and XPEX have been asked to develop a worthy and sustainable alternative for this site in combination with a feasibility study.
