Between the meadows lining the edge of the IJsselmeer is the Frisian town of Hindeloopen (Hylpen in the Fries language), famous for its colorful furniture, ornate paintings, unique folk costumes and ‘Hindelooper’ living rooms. Less well known is that in the 17th and 18th centuries, the Hindeloopers were really important for trade across the Baltic. This typically Dutch town is no local oddity focused in on itself, but a worldly cosmopolitan place. Museum Hinderloopen has renovation plans and asked XPEX to think about a new building and new presentation. We are developing a concept and giving financial and organizational advice on the new construction. We will produce a brochure for the project that sets the Frisian tradition in a global perspective to stoke the interest of potential stakeholders.
