Oud-Amelisweerd
Museum and visitor center - PROJECT DEVELOPMENT
Near Utrecht, in the beautiful surroundings of the Kromme Rijn (Crooked Rhine river), is an 18th-century manor house called Oud-Amelisweerd (Old Amelisweerd), built by Baron Gerard van Amerongen Taets Godard. The exterior and interior, including the unique wall coverings, are preserved largely in their original condition. Commissioned by the Armando Museum, XPEX designed the exhibit of original wall hangings in the house. With only a few modern intrusions, it was possible to display the entire collection of wall hangings in conjunction and in context, united in one home, and draw active links to the diverse periods in the history of the inhabitants.
