The Sonnenborgh Museum & Observatory situated on the Maliesingel in Utrecht features a unique scientific history. The Royal Netherlands Meteorological Society (KNMI) was founded here in 1854 and conducted crucial international research on the sun and meteorological observations. The Observatory was built on a centuries- old Bastion and has largely been kept in its original state. Sonnenborgh is currently undergoing a renewal process which is reinventing the methods of presentation to the public. The renewal process includes the existing program for schools, youth and the interested layman, and the permanent presentation. Sonnenborgh has chosen XPEX to develop a new concept for its museum and to present this in the form of a bid book.
