The Netherlands Open Air Museum
On the opening-day of the Dutch parliament in 2012, the Minister of Education, Culture and Science revealed that funds were available for a visual depiction of Dutch history, A Canon of the Netherlands, at the hugely popular Open Air Museum in Arnhem. In 2013, XPEX director Pieter van der Heijden took a seat on the Canon Presentation Steering Group. The steering group has worked out the concept, suggested a program of requirements, and produced a master plan. In 2014 Pieter van der Heijden became Concept and Art Director of this large scale presentation. Step-by-step in the coming years, several “canon windows” on Dutch history will appear at in the Open Air Museum, and in 2016, the main presentation will be ready.
